Visit to Lord Mayor of Hull - Wednesday 30 April 2008 - Posted by FLT/LT Waters
On 3rd April cadets and staff from the squadron had the honour and privilege of being invited to the Lord Mayors Parlour at the Guild Hall.

The visit was proposed by the Lord Mayor herself after she had been unable to attend our presentation evening in March.

On arrival we were all fondly greeted by the Lord Mayor and Councillor Petch, who we had previously helped by organising the car parking for Veterans Weekend last summer.

After a brief introduction by the Lord Mayor and a few photographs we were taken through into an adjoining room in which a splendid buffet had been laid on. Everyone enjoyed the buffet, some more than others it has to be said, and the selection of cakes was definitely a hit with everyone.

After refreshments we split into two groups and were given a guided tour around some of the rooms within the Guild Hall. The tour lasted about 30 minutes and included the court room and the cells, in which a “How many Cadets can you fit in a Cell” was tried out.

We then regrouped and signed the Lord Mayors book, which she will take with her at the end of her term in office, and the visitor’s book, which remains in the Guild Hall.

The night was drawn to a close with the presentation of two Cadets to Corporal, Cpl Dyer and Cpl Tate.

Finally the Lord Mayor made a presentation of a Wedgewood commemorative plate to the squadron and then presented each cadet with a pin badge containing the three coronets of Hull.

The evening was a real privilege for all who were involved and upon invitation the Lord Mayor has promised to come down and visit the squadron in the coming future.
